If you have a domain managed at Namecheap, but want to point it to North Networking, there are two ways to do that.
- You can change the Nameserver of the domain. This will point the web service, mail and change the active DNS Zone to the one at North Networking. To change the Nameserver, login to your Namecheap account, then click on Dashboard. Find your domain under Dashboard or under Domain List, then choose Manage. Near the top in the Nameservers section choose Custom DNS and input North Networking Nameserver. Propagating the DNS changes can take up to 48 hours, but is normally much quicker.
- You can update the A record for your domain. This will point only the website to North Networking. To do that, login to your Namecheap account, then click on Dashboard. Find your domain under Dashboard or under Domain List, then choose Manage. Navigate to Advanced DNS and add a new record of type A Record with "@" as host and value as your North Networking cPanel Shared IP Address. Create a new record of type CNAME Record with "www" as host and your North Networking SiteWorx Shared IP Address. Propagating the DNS changes can take up to 48 hours, but is normally much quicker.
To transfer your domain from Namecheap to North Networking, you must login to your Namecheap account, then click on Dashboard. Find your domain under Dashboard or under Domain List, then choose Manage. Navigate to Sharing & Transfer. From here, you can transfer your domain name out from Namecheap to North Networking. To transfer out, you will need to make sure that Domain Lock is turned OFF and get an Auth Code. After you place the request here, Namecheap will send your Auth Code to your registered email address specified for your domain.
Once the domain is unlocked and you have the Authorization Code, request the domain transfer from your North Networking Client Area > Domains > Transfer Domains to Us.
It may take up to 5 days for the transfer to be complete.
